Celebrating Life’s WORC at fundraising gala
Life’s WORC/Th e Family Center for
Autism held its annual fundraising gala
on Dec. 5 at Gotham Hall in Manhattan.
Th e guest of honor was Rocco B.
Commisso, chairman/CEO of MediaCom
and the New York Cosmos of the North
American Soccer League.
“Mr. Commisso comes to us as the
recipient of past honors, recognitions
and achievements,” Life’s WORC Board
Chariman Rick Del Mastro said. “It is so
gratifying and meaningful to the board,
staff , families and people served by our
agency that this man believes in our mission
and wants to support our work.”
Life’s WORC/Th e Family Center for
Autism was founded nearly 50 years ago by
Victoria Schneps, publisher of Th e Queens
Courier and Schneps Communications,
with the assistance of journalist Geraldo
Rivera. Th e nonprofi t provides a variety of
residential and treatment services to 1,600
people with developmental disabilities and
more than 100 people with autism.
