On Thanksgiving morning the team met at The Catholic Worker St. Joseph House in Manhattan to help prepare food and feed the homeless. Most of the girls had never done this type of charitable work before, so they were anxious to get started and begin helping. “I was nervous, never being this close to a homeless person before. But in the end they are just like you and me,” said freshman Briana Johnson. “They have been exposed to some misfortunes that have put them in the position they are currently in. I enjoyed helping them on a day like Thanksgiving.” “It warmed my heart being able to see my teammates not only give to the homeless of New York but also to give a special moment to each other,” said Lexis Valentin. “This is the third year we have been coming here as a team and it never gets old,” said Anthony Alfaro, head coach of the Lady Red Hawks. “To see the faces of those homeless when you give them a warm smile and a heartfelt hello still gets me choked up. I am so proud of these young ladies for giving up their time to give back to the community.” Photo courtesy LaGuardia Community College Lady Red Hawks The LAGCC Lady Red Hawks visited The Catholic Worker St. Joseph House on Thanksgiving morning to help feed the homeless.
