Krzyszlot Zmitrowicz, 35, of Woodward Avenue died on Nov. 29 at Elmhurst Hospital. According to published reports, he had been in a medically induced coma since being attacked on the morning of Nov. 15 at the corner of Fresh Pond Road and Linden Street. According to police, the alleged assailant — Pawel Garwarski, 26, of Madison Street — struck Zmitrowicz in the face with an unknown object outside a deli at the intersection at about 4:30 a.m. The two men had become embroiled in a dispute before the assault occurred. Zmitrowicz’s head hit the pavement as he fell to the ground, authorities said, causing a skull fracture and bleeding on the brain. Garwarski fled the scene following the attack southbound on Fresh Pond Road. The 104th Precinct Detective Squad picked up Garwarski the day after the attack and charged him with multiple counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Court records indicate that he remains in custody on $250,000 bail. Police reclassified the case as a homicide, and additional or upgraded charges against Garwarski are pending the results of the ongoing investigation. Photo release of robber who stole over $2K during Ridgewood bank heist The NYPD has released a photo of the note-carrying crook who made off with over $2,000 in a bank robbery in Ridgewood on Nov. 23. Officers from the 104th Precinct responded to a call of a robbery from the Capital One Bank located at 70-01 Forest Ave. at around 3:30 p.m. According to police, the suspect — described as a white male, standing about 5 feet 11 inches tall — entered the bank and handed the 38-year-old female employee a note demanding cash and specifically stating he did not want a dye pack. Authorities said the employee complied with the note and handed over $2,200 in cash to the suspect, who then fled northbound along Forest Avenue on foot. The robber was last seen wearing a light green jacket, black pants and black sneakers. No injuries were reported, and an investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS. New Jersey man charged for murder of girlfriend’s infant son in Jamaica: DA A 29-year-old man has been charged for causing the death of his girlfriend’s 4-month-old son, who he was left to care for, earlier this year in Jamaica, according to authorities. Jhalil Williams of New Jersey was arraigned Nov. 24 on charges of seconddegree murder and first-degree assault. According to Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown, on Jan. 24, Williams was left solely responsible for the care of his girlfriend’s infant son, Javion Durett, at her Jamaica home on 144th Avenue at about 10 p.m. Then, sometime between midnight and 3:18 a.m. the following day, he inflicted abusive head trauma on the boy, causing his death. Williams was then arrested on Nov. 23 after the child’s death was ruled a homicide. “This is a truly horrific and disturbing case where a helpless 4-month-old infant was left in the care of the defendant who was the mother’s boyfriend,” Brown said. “The alleged actions of the defendant are totally incomprehensible. He now faces serious charges that could lead to his spending the rest of his life behind bars if convicted.” Williams was ordered to be held without bail and is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 4. If convicted, he faces up of 25 years to life in prison. Photo courtesy of NYPD TWO TEXAS WOMEN SNARED WITH 20 KILOS OF COCAINE, POSSIBLE QUEENS RING CONNECTION Two Texas women believed to be connected to a Queens narcotics ring were arrested after police found $4.2 million in cocaine inside a storage truck they were operating, according to police. Monica Lucia Venegas Grimaldo, 19, was driving an U-Haul truck with Nolvia Lili Amador Manuelas, 26, in the passenger seat at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 22 when they were stopped by police in the area of Boerum Place and Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn. The suspects and the truck, which had Arizona plates, were later taken to the 115th Precinct stationhouse in Jackson Heights for further investigation. According to Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown, the women and the vehicle were believed to be connected to an organized drug operation based in Queens that has been under investigation for some time. Police executed a warranted search of the vehicle later on Nov. 20 and found 20 kilos of cocaine stored inside. Grimaldo and Manuelas were subsequently charged with first- and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second degree conspiracy. They each face up to 20 years behind bars if convicted. “Great police work led to the seizure of 20 kilograms of cocaine concealed in a pair of speakers in the back of a U-Haul truck,” Brown said in a statement. “Let drug dealers be forewarned — this is not the place to import or distribute illegal drugs.”
