Bayside ice cream shop picks up pieces after fi re

Firefi ghters worked quickly to put out
a fi re that broke out inside a Bayside ice
cream shop on Saturday morning.
According to the Fire Department, the
one-alarm blaze occurred at about 6:10
a.m. on Nov. 3 inside of Ben & Teena’s Ice

responded to the shooting. Paramedics
pronounced Campbell dead at the scene;
his girlfriend was unharmed.
Lee, Palmer and Guiteau were each
charged with second-degree murder,
fi rst-degree robbery, fi rst-degree armed
robbery, criminal possession of a weapon
and tampering with physical evidence.
If convicted, they each face up to
25 years to life in prison.
Sixty fi refi ghters from 12 units responded
to 911 calls about the blaze, and they
had the fi re beat in about a half-hour.
On its FDNY Alerts Twitter page, the
department declared the fi re under control
at 6:47 a.m. Th ere were no reported
injuries, according to an FDNY spokesperson.
Th e cause of the fi re is under
investigation.

as Maggie Moo’s ice cream, the owners
changed the name back in the spring.
Ben Katz, co-owner of the shop, told
QNS that there was no structural damage
to the building, and that they were
already working to replace damaged ice
cream-making equipment. He’s hopeful
the shop will be back up and running by

Perps sought
for homicide
in Flushing

Cops continue to look for those
responsible for the fatal shooting of
a 26-year-old man along a residential
Flushing street on Sunday morning.
Offi cers from the 109th Precinct
responded to a 911 call about the
shooting in front of a home on 45th
Avenue near 163rd Street at 4:30 a.m.
on Nov. 4.
Upon arriving at the scene, they
found Victor Alvarenga, 26, of 164th
Street in Flushing, unconscious and
unresponsive with multiple gunshot
wounds to his body.
Paramedics rushed him to
NewYork-Presbyterian Queens hospital,
where he was pronounced dead.
Alvarenga lived around the corner
from where he was fatally shot.
Police have not yet revealed any
information regarding a possible
motive, or a description of the suspect(
s) involved.
On Nov. 5, the 109th Precinct posted
on its Facebook account security
camera images of vehicles and potential
suspects connected to the homicide.
No arrests have been made as of
press time Wednesday aft ernoon.
