The community was invited to attend this free special event held at Queens Library’s Whitestone Community Library. The afternoon consisted of a special storytime reading of “Wheels on the Bus,” a school bus-themed arts & crafts activity and refreshments. An enthusiastic group of preschoolers and their parents participated in the festivities and enjoyed interacting with neighbors and Vallo Transportation employee volunteers. In addition, Vallo Transportation provided Queens Library with a grant to underwrite the acquisition of new children’s books for the branch. “We’re delighted to celebrate our fifth year sponsoring this literacy initiative with our partner Queens Library. This program has given us the opportunity to connect with many families throughout the community over the years and provide them with access to a growing collection of new and exciting children’s books found at Whitestone Community Library,” stated Linda DeSabato, President of Vallo Transportation. “Thank you to Linda DeSabato and Vallo Transportation for their generosity and support of Whitestone Community Library. We greatly appreciate local partners like Vallo Transportation, an organization with deep ties to the community and a proven commitment to serving the city’s children,” said Dennis M. Walcott, President and CEO of Queens Library. As a local school bus transportation company, Vallo Transportation works with children throughout the school year and over the summer. They demonstrate their commitment to supporting educational initiatives through their on-going partnerships with Queens non-profit groups such as Queens Library. “For this partnership, our collective goal is to keep young readers motivated to continue their love of reading and to open the door to learning more about the vast programs and resources available at your local Queens Library. It also gives us an opportunity to reinforce the importance of school bus safety and our overall commitment to enriching the community,” added Ms. DeSabato.
