According to the city’s Parks Department, new kid-friendly play equipment as well as new adult fitness equipment will be installed. Adjacent to the adult fitness amenities will be a brand-new basketball court, featuring fiberglass backboards and colorful, durable coating. The playground honors the memory of Pat Williams, who devoted her life to the Queens Village and the rest of southeastern Queens. Councilman I. Daneek Miller characterized her as a “renowned leader.” As a member of the 105th Precinct Community Council, she tirelessly fought the drug epidemic in the area. She was also active with the Order of the Eastern Star and Concerned Citizens for a Safe Queens Village in their efforts to improve the quality of life for all residents in the area. Miller said this new park would “give back just as much as she did.”
