The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization Alpha Care Supply Accessibility Solutions Specialist Serving NYC Metro Area for 20 years Ramps of every type and application Stairlifts - Interior and Exterior Wheelchair Vertical Platform Lifts ADA Bathroom Remodels Residential Elevators Fully Insured and Properly Licensed Call Alpha Care Supply for all your ADA & Accessibility needs 516.568.3010 www.aplhacaresupply.com 21 Stringham Avenue, Valley Stream, NY 11580 New and Used Rentals WINNER 3 YEARS IN A ROW which rates medical facilities across the nation on numerous health care criteria, gave Queens Hospital an A “hospital safety score.” Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, said the grade reflects the hospital’s “commitment to their patients and their community.” Leapfrog rated more than 2,500 medical centers across the U.S. in April, with less than a third of them (31 percent) earning an A grade for hospital safety, according to a Queens Hospital press release. “Our A grade from Leapfrog is a valuable tool for patients looking for a safe place to receive their care,” said Queens Hospital Executive Director Julius Wool. “Our A grade is a reflection of the patient-centered approach we take to caring for our community, and we continually strive to improve on our efforts.” Leapfrog’s Blue Ribbon panel of nine health care experts rates each hospital using 28 different measures of safety, including criteria on how medical center staff works to prevent patient infections and injuries, as well as medical malpractice. Now in its 80th year of service, Queens Hospital is part of the city’s Health and Hospitals Corporation. According to its website, approximately 293 beds are in service and nearly 100,000 emergency room visits were made to the facility in 2013.
