Fun tie-dye crafts for families to try this summer

With a new season on the horizon and
summer vibes starting soon, it’s time to
dive into colorful tie-dye craft s that the
whole family can do.
So are you ready for some vibrancy this
season?
Here are some super fun tie-dye craft s
and techniques to make with your kids.
Tie-Dye Face Masks
Get creative with the colors and design
with tie-dye face masks. Th is craft activity
is a fun experience, especially for the
kiddos out there who are interested in
fashion.
Tie-Dye T-Shirt
Th is is an easy and fun T-shirt project
— perfect if your children are eager to try
their skills at tie-dying. You need a white
shirt, some clips to make the design and
a few Sharpie markers. Families can use
as many colors as they want and make
any tie-dye design possible, which is what
makes this T-shirt so great. Plus, you
can use any drawing materials you have
to make colorful and unique patterns.
Th ere are no rules to follow with regards
to design and tie-dying, so use your creativity
and make a shirt that is perfect for
summer.
Tie-Dye Jumpsuit
You just need an old jumpsuit or pants
that don’t necessarily have to be white.
When you fi nish with the coloring, you
can add embellishments to really make
them stand out. Th ere is no specifi c
design technique to these but the result
is gorgeous. Use bold colors to create a
stand-out design!
Wave Design T-Shirt
Another great tie-dye project families
may enjoy is to create a lovely wave
design on a T-shirt or socks with all your
favorite colors. Th is is a creative activity
where your kids can learn about style
and rock their creations. You can do several
of these with diff erent colors and create
vibrant clothes out of old and boring
socks — just add some imagination
and creativity. And since you can’t just
tie dye your socks, it’s important to know
how to turn plain white sneakers into a
piece of art.
If you are out of white clothes to paint,
don’t worry! Th ere are so many fun tiedye
projects your kids will enjoy and it
will allow them to get creative. Butterfl ies
out of baby wipes or handmade bookmarks,
it’s your choice where to begin!

With Julie Andrews

come to life with music and special guests

Monday Storytime with
Michelle Obama
Michelle Obama remembers her favorite
children’s book from the time her
daughters were little. Th e former fi rst
lady will read four of the most beloved
picture books, including “Th e Gruff alo,”
“Th e Very Hungry Caterpillar,” “Th ere’s a
Dragon in Your Book” and “Miss Maple’s

Harry Potter at Home
Seventeen weeks of “Harry Potter”
read by Daniel Radcliff e, Stephen Fry,
David Beckham, Dakota Fanning and
others. Many inspiring contributors will
help your children read through the fi rst
“Harry Potter” book, as they will get
introduced to the Dursleys and to the
magical world of Hogwarts. You can subscribe
to Harry Potter at Home and get all
the latest updates on further video readings,

Read Together, Be Together
Th is is a federal campaign promoted
by Penguin Random House and Parents
magazine that celebrates the value and
power of a shared reading experience
between a parent and child. Every day,
celebrities like Jennifer Garner and Alan
Cumming read a book on their Instagram
or Facebook page at 3 p.m. All recordings
will be available on the Read Together, Be
Together website aft erward.
