Man dies after crashing car
on Cross Island Parkway in
Cambria Heights: NYPD
A 25-year-old man died in a car accident
in Cambria Heights aft er losing control
of his car on the Cross Island Parkway
early in the morning of Wednesday, May
20.
On May 20, around 3:10 a.m., the man
was driving a 2007 gray Infi nity G35
sedan at a high speed southbound on
the Cross Island Parkway, when he lost
control of his car, drove into a grassy
area near the westbound exit area for the
Belt Parkway and hit a tree, according to
the NYPD Highway District’s Collision
Investigation Squad.
Aft er hitting the tree, the man was ejected
from the vehicle — which caught on
fi re — and sustained severe body trauma,
according to the police.
Th e man was taken to Northwell Health-
Long Island Jewish Hospital Valley Stream
where he was pronounced dead.
Th e identity of the man is being withheld
pending proper family notifi cation.
Th e investigation into the crash remains
ongoing.

Cops seek man who stabbed
Popeyes delivery man in
Springfi eld Gardens: NYPD
Th e NYPD is looking for a man who
stabbed and attempted to rob a Popeyes
delivery man inside one of the fast food
restaurant’s locations in Springfield
Gardens earlier this week.
On Monday, May 11, around 4:15
p.m., inside the eatery located at 122-
10 Guy R. Brewer Blvd., an unidentifi ed
man approached a 44-year-old Popeyes
employee who was carrying a bag fi lled
with food from the restaurant, according
to the NYPD.
Th e man took out a sharp object and
demanded the employee hand over the bag,
police say. Th e employee refused and the
man stabbed him in the stomach and the
hand, according to the authorities. Th e man
then tried to take the bag but was unsuccessful
aft er the brief struggle, cops say.
Th e unidentifi ed man left the restaurant
in a dark-colored BMW SUV empty
handed.
Th e Popeyes employee was taken to
Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in stable
condition.
Police recovered surveillance video of
the suspect.

Motorcyclist dies in
crash in St. Albans
A motorcyclist died aft er crashing into a
stopped car in St. Albans on Friday, May 22.
Th e 29-year-old man was traveling
eastbound at a high speed on Nashville
Boulevard when he struck a 2006 gray
Volkswagen at a full stop at a stop sign
on Grayson Street around 11 a.m.,
according to the NYPD.
Police and EMS personnel arrived to
fi nd the 29-year-old unresponsive and
unconscious with severe trauma to his
head and body, cops say. He was pronounced
dead at the scene.
Th e 68-year-old woman driving the
Volkswagen was transported to Franklin
Hospital with minor injuries.
Th e investigation is ongoing and no
arrests have been made.
