 Jamaica man turns himself  
 for fatally stabbing his wife 
 A Jamaica man is in custody for allegedly  
 knifi ng his wife to death during a  
 domestic assault at their home on Monday  
 aft ernoon. 
 Authorities say that at 1:55 p.m. on  
 May 20, offi  cers from the 103rd Precinct  
 responded  to  a  911  call  regarding  an  
 assault in progress at a residence on Atari  
 Lane off  93rd Avenue. 
 Upon  their  arrival,  police  found  
 44-year-old Isabel Galeano with multiple  
 stab wounds to her torso and a laceration  
 in her hand. 
 Paramedics rushed Galeano to Jamaica  
 Hospital in critical condition. She ultimately  
 died of her injuries at 7:46 a.m. on  
 Tuesday morning. 
 Later  that  day,  Galeano’s  husband,  
 56-year-old Isidro Pacheco, turned himself  
 in to custody in the 103rd Precinct.  
 Police said that he allegedly stabbed his  
 wife as a result of a dispute that escalated  
 violently. 
 He was charged with murder and criminal  
 possession of a weapon. Arraignment  
 details were not yet made available as of  
 Tuesday morning. 110th Precinct

 Corona, Elmhurst 
 Corona woman dies of injuries  
 after she was hit by car 
 A Corona woman died of her injuries  
 last week aft er she was struck by a car  
 while crossing the street just two blocks  
 away from her home, cops announced  
 on Friday. 
 According to authorities, at 5:40 a.m.  
 on May 1, police responded to a 911  
 call regarding a pedestrian struck at 48th  
 Avenue  and  108th  Street.  Upon  their  
 arrival,  offi  cers  from  the  110th  Precinct  
 found 68-year-old Maria Ruiz-Amaya of  
 46th Avenue lying in the roadway with  
 trauma to her head. 
 A preliminary investigation found that  
 Ruiz-Amaya was crossing east to west on  
 108th Street when the driver of a 2007  
 Chevy Silverado made a left hand  turn  
 onto 108th Street from 48th Street. Th e  
 driver remained at the scene following  
 the incident. 
 EMS responded to the scene and rushed  
 Ruiz-Amaya to Elmhurst Hospital, where  
 she ultimately died of her injuries on May 8. 
 No arrests have been made at this time.  
 Th  e investigation is ongoing. 
 Man kicks commuter  
 at MetroCard kiosk in  
 Jamaica station 
 Cops  are  looking  for  a  man  who  
 attacked a commuter at a Jamaica train  
 station. 
 According to police, at 10:40 a.m. on  
 April 18, a 22-year-old man was using  
 a MetroCard vending machine at the  
 Jamaica Center – Parsons/Archer Station  
 when an unidentifi ed man approached  
 him from behind and kicked the man in  
 the back of the head. 
 Th  e suspect then fl ed the scene on foot.  
 Th  e victim suff ered pain to his head,  
 however he refused medical attention at  
 the scene. 
 Police released a photo of the suspect  
 taken as he was fl eeing in the vicinity of  
 Jamaica Avenue and 165th Street.

 Would-be bank robber  
 fl ees empty-handed  
 at Flushing bank 
 Police are asking for the public’s assistance  
 in fi nding a man wanted in connection  
 to an attempted bank robbery in  
 the Pomonok section of Flushing. 
 Law  enforcement  sources  reported  
 that the suspect walked  
 into an Amalgamated  
 Bank at 70-23 Parsons  
 Blvd. 
 Cops said the suspect  
 allegedly  approached  
 the teller and demanded  
 money  but  was  
 unsuccessful  in  procuring  
 the  cash.  Th e  
 would-be robber then  
 fl ed the location in an  
 unknown direction. 
 Officers  from  
 the  107th  Precinct  
 responded to the scene.  
 Th  ere  were  no  injuries  
 as a result of this  
 incident, according to  
 authorities. 
 Police described the  
 suspect as a 6 foot 1  
 black man in his 50s  
 or  60s  who  weighs  
 between 200 and 210  
 pounds. Surveillance photos from the  
 incident show that he was last seen wearing  
 a dark-colored jacket, black hat and  
 blue jeans.
