to the Noguchi Museum, the
Roto Shaku are made from
lumber that Orozco wrapped
in a variety of colored tapes.
The artist utilizes abstraction
and his signature geometries
to create his distinct work.
The exhibition began on April
17 and will run until Aug.
11 (exhibition is closed on
Mondays and Tuesdays).

Free Creative Writing Classes for Mother’s Day - Queens
Library in Jamaica will have free creative writing classes
for children of all ages. This Saturday, children ages
8 through 12 can participate in the writing workshop
“Writing Mom as a Character.” Children get chance to
thank the women in their lives through their writing.
This workshop allows participants to write short stories
for Mother’s Day, making the workshop a special
opportunity to create thoughtful presents. This week’s
instructor is Jackie de Dios. Her writing focuses on the
Filipino American and the Queens experience. For more

greatest open stage and

Victor Varnado, the NYC performance
show has hosted
greats such as Kristen
Schaal, Hannibal Buress,
Jim Gaffigan and Jonathan
Aimes. The show runs every
Friday, creating a welcoming
space for performers. This
space is advertised as an
environment where anyone
can feel comfortable performing.

9 Morning Runs in
Flushing Meadows
Corona Park - Every
Saturday, a volunteer-led
initiative meets in the
morning for runs and
walks through local neighborhood
parks. This run will
be held in Flushing Meadows
Corona Park, and this initiative
occurs in all five boroughs.
This free event will be
3.1 miles long. Participants
are encouraged to arrive 15
minutes before the start of
the run and to leave their
valuables at home. They also
welcome people of all ages
and experience levels to join.
The program is a part of New
York City’s Parks’ Community
Initiative. The event will occur
every Saturday until June 1.
