According to authorities, the male suspects smashed through the door and confronted the two residents, a 70-year-old man and a 30-year-old man. The perpetrators reportedly tied up the victims and covered their heads with sheets. One of the gunmen then pistol-whipped the 30-year-old victim, police said. Jamaica man convicted of abusing pit bull puppy A Jamaica man was convicted on animal cruelty charges after eyewitnesses reported seeing him brutally abuse his pit bull-mix puppy, prosecutors announced on March 17. Eric Y. Ranger, 26, of 179th Place in Jamaica, known as “E-Bone,” pleaded guilty to a charge of misdemeanor animal cruelty. He was sentenced to conditional discharge under the conditions that he is banned from owning an animal for fi ve years and must register as an animal abuser with the New York City Department of Health. This registration will prevent city shelters, rescue groups or pet stores from allowing Ranger to purchase or adopt a pet. “The defendant has admitted to brutalizing a tiny puppy so much so that people who observed the defendant walking the dog in the neighborhood called authorities to report the abuse,” said Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown. According to eyewitnesses Ranger was seen last November walking a small, dark pit bullmix off-leash. One eyewitness stated that the dog could be heard crying and yelping in the stairway of Ranger’s residence that same afternoon. Police review of the third fl oor hallway video confi rmed the abuse. Between Nov. 17 and Dec. 23, 2015, the defendant was seen punching, choking and kicking the dog on numerous occasions. On Dec. 17, Ranger was seen on video carrying the dog upstairs by the collar. He claimed he was trying to set the dog straight. When police executed a court-authorized search warrant on Dec. 23 at his Jamaica home, the dog was found housed in an upside down milk crate, weighed down with two cases of soda, which compressed the crate to the point that the dog could not move at all. The puppy was surrendered to the ASPCA where a thorough examination showed that the dog had been rescued before sustaining any injuries. The puppy was recently adopted by a caring new family and is now thriving in his new home. Woman guilty in bloody murder of Jamaica boyfriend Jurors convicted a Brooklyn woman on March 15 of fatally knifi ng her boyfriend inside his South Jamaica home, then dousing him in bleach to cover her tracks in September 2012. Anna Adams, 41, was found guilty of second degree murder, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence and endangering the welfare of a child, according to Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown. Prosecutors said Adams repeatedly stabbed Jeffrey Perkins, 46, on the body inside his home on 145th Street near 133rd Avenue shortly before 6 a.m. on Sept. 5, 2012. Following the gruesome murder, she covered his body in bed sheets, then doused it all in bleach in an attempt to remove any evidence of her involvement. “This was a brutal killing and a particularly bloody crime scene,” Brown said. “There were blood trails throughout the house and even outside.” According to court records, Adams called 911 following the attack, and responding offi cers from the 113th Precinct found blood all over the interior and exterior of the home. Perkins’ body was found lying face up on the lower level with multiple stab wounds to his back, neck and head. Blood-stained and bleach-soaked sheets and blankets were found underneath him, as well as a shoe, which matched the one Adams was wearing at the scene. She was taken into custody and informed detectives that she stabbed her boyfriend. Sentencing is scheduled to take place on April 11; Adams faces 25 years to life in prison.
