The precinct’s detective team has released fl iers seeking information that could help prevent future loss of property or catch thieves that have committed several recent home burglaries in Maspeth. “Help us, Help you!,” is written on the fl ier. “Recently there have been numerous burglaries in the Maspeth/ Woodside area while homeowners are at work or away from home.” Anyone with information is asked to call the precinct’s detective team at 718-386-2723. 106TH PRECINCT Howard Beach, Ozone Park and South Ozone Park Woman found dead in Howard Beach motel: cops A 22-year-old woman was found dead in a Howard Beach motel Saturday morning, March 15, police said. Authorities responded to a 9-1-1 call of an unconscious female at the Surfside Motel at 164-33 Cross Bay Boulevard about 11:25 a.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing. 108TH PRECINCT LIC, Sunnyside and Woodside Dead woman pulled out of Long Island City waters Fire offi cials pulled the body of a 51-year-old Long Island City woman out of the East River Saturday morning, March 15, police said. She was fully clothed, and there were no visible signs of trauma on her body, according to cops. The woman, Judy Soo Hoo, was found fl oating near 47th Road and Center Boulevard about 10 a.m., police said. The investigation is ongoing. 109TH PRECINCT Downtown Flushing, East Flushing, Queensboro Hill, College Point, Malba, Whitestone, Beechhurst and Bay Terrace Cops seek man who tried to kidnap 11-year-old boy in Flushing Police are looking for a man who they say tried to kidnap an 11-year-old boy in Flushing on Friday, March 14. The boy was waiting to be picked up after school about 2:35 p.m. at the corner of Colden Street and 45th Avenue when a 40-year-old man pulled up in a car and told the victim to get inside, authorities said. “Get in the car. I’ll take you somewhere nice upstate,” the suspect said, according to police. When the victim refused, the man got out of the car, grabbed him by the hands and tried to pull him inside the car, cops said. The victim’s father showed up and foiled the plans. Police said the suspect fl ed north in a dark blue four door sedan on Colden Street. The suspect was described by police as Asian with short black hair and brown eyes. He is 5’6” to 5’8” and has dark skin and a goatee. The man was last seen wearing a blue multi-colored sweatshirt and brown slacks. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS. 113TH PRECINCT St. Albans, Hollis, Springfi eld Gardens, South Ozone Park, South Jamaica, Addisleigh Park and Locust Manor 12-year-old boy charged after accidentally shooting sister at Jamaica home: cops Police have charged a 12-year-old boy with criminal possession of a weapon after he accidentally shot his sister at their Jamaica home early Friday morning, March 14. The boy told cops he was playing with a .22-caliber revolver inside his 164th Street residence about 2:30 a.m., when it went off, striking his 14-year-old sibling in the stomach, the NYPD said. She was taken to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition. He also told authorities he found the gun, but police did not say where he discovered it. The case has been referred to family court, according to the NYPD. 106TH PRECINCT Howard Beach, Ozone Park and South Ozone Park More than 100 firefighters tamed a massive brush fi re that lit up Howard Beach late Saturday afternoon, March 15, the FDNY said. Flames broke out in a fi eld of reeds near Spring Creek Park at 83rd Street and 163rd Avenue at about 4:20 p.m., fi re offi cials said. The FDNY said it took about 138 fi refi ghters and 33 units to put out the three-alarm blaze. It was under control by about 6:20 p.m. There were no reported injuries, according to the Fire Department. The cause of the blaze is under investigation, an FDNY spokesperson said.
