Parents are always looking for somewhere
for their kids to truly be the boys
and girls of summer.
According to the 2017 U.S. Census
Bureau, Queens has an estimated 471,716
residents who are under the age of 18,
most of whom are attending school. Th e
borough has several opportunities for
youth to get involved in extracurriculars.
All these options may seem overwhelming,
especially since summer lurks just
around the corner.
Th e Queens Courier took the time to
fi nd some of the best day camps for your
kids so you don’t have to.
1. Camp Invention has a STEM program
for curious and innovative children.
Th e program aims to develop
problem-solving skills, identify inventors
as role models and build confi dence
in children. Th e camp includes interactive,
hands-on and creative activities
led by local teachers. Since 1990, Camp
Invention has encouraged children to stay
engaged even when they are not attending

2. Fierce Dragon’s Epic Sports Academy
Summer Camps off er martial arts, dance,
tumbling, outdoor sports, educational
lessons and much more. Th is camp
teaches youth, ages 5 to 12, how to stay
healthy and active during the summer
months. Fierce Dragon has served parents
and kids in Whitestone, Bayside, College
Point and Flushing. Th eir website has

3. FasTracKids and Jei Rego Park
Learning Center has an educational summer
camp for kids. Rated “the best spot
for learning,” FasTracKids has provided
over 15 years of dedicated educational
excellence. Th e camp off ers eight diff erent
weekly themes, and has a Smartboard
Learning Station, role playing games,
arts and craft s and themed experiments.
Participants will have an on-site pool as
well.
4. For grades K through 8, Tip-Top
Brain off ers an Astronomy STEAM
Summer Camp. Th is camp has an academic
and scientifi c program that gives
students the chance to practice their reading,
writing and math skills while completing
engaging, hands-on projects pertaining
to the universe, earth and planetary
systems.
5. Th e Jamaica YMCA summer camps
gives children, ages 4 to 15, a summer
full of fun and fi tness! Located in Central
Queens, YMCA off ers fi ve diff erent and
enriching summer camps. Th ese include:
Kinder Camp, Explorers Day Camp,
Swim Camp, Dance Camp and Basketball

6. Th e Center of Learning in Flushing
off ers a summer program that helps students
start the next school year at the
head of their class. Th is summer school,
Immanuel Genius, has certifi ed teachers
from private and publics schools, individual
daily reports on student progress, personal
attention in a small group setting
and individualized instruction for each
student based on diagnostic testing.
7. JEI Learning Center says students
should never stop learning, especially not
during the summer. With the JEI Summer
Enrichment program, students can avoid
learning loss through fi ve programs. Each
of these were created to help students
learn at their own pace. Programs can

8. Oasis Camp in Bayside has several
day camps for children of all ages. Th e
program is dedicated to youth development,
and strive to create engaging
summer camps for participants. Oasis
says they create safe and inclusive environments
through experiences in the
arts, athletics and enrichment activities.

9. World of Discovery Summer Day
Camp of Queens has been serving the
community for 30 years with sports,
swimming and special camp trips for
attendees. Th is program off ers three hot
lunches and special trips per week, insurance,

10. Billie Jean King National Tennis
Center off ers summer camps for children
of all ages and skill levels. Gain experience
on the court this summer to enhance your
