Queens Centers for Progress:
Celebrating 70 Years of Service to the Queens Community
Queens Centers for Progress began providing services to individuals with cerebral palsy in
1950.We have made great strides and every day we are working towards the goal of greater
independence for people with developmental disabilities.
We have taken a leading role in the Queens community helping thousands of people and their
families deal with the seemingly insurmountable challenges that they face in their lives each day.
People with special needs want the opportunity to be independent and lead normal lives. They
want to attend school, be employed, live in a house and share their lives with others. We believe
that the people we serve can make meaningful choices about their lives and can make real
progress toward greater independence and integration into the community.
The services of Queens Centers for Progress become even more essential as children grow and
into adulthood. At QCP, children get intensive training in cognitive, motor,
socialization and communication skills. QCP staff help families obtain the financial
assistance necessary to cover the expenses of the special services needed by children with
developmental disabilities. As adults, QCP’s day and residential programs, along with
vocational training and employment programs provide the basic needs and training to
function in the community.
With the continued support of friends like you, opportunities are created for people with
developmental disabilities to lead more independent and fulfilling lives.
