WWW.QNS.COM HOLIDAY RIDGEWOOD TIMES 5 When key elected officials, local corporations and private citizens want to support community efforts in our city they invest in The Greater Ridgewood Restoration Corporation (GRRC). Greater Ridgewood Restoration’s community efforts include graffiti removal. The anti-graffiti cleanup efforts of GRRC, are now in their 25th year. GRRC has cleaned more than 5,600 buildings in the neighborhoods of Ridgewood, Glendale, Maspeth, Middle Village, Forest Hills and Bushwick. The GRRC uses alternative sentencing personnel from the Queens DA, under the supervision of dedicated local residents, using hot-water pressure washers and chemicals that wash graffiti away. We have expanded to include removing graffiti off of rooftop bulkheads. Running a successful anti-graffiti program like that of the Greater Ridgewood Restoration Cooperation takes a lot of financial support. Every year it costs us $25,000 to rid our community of graffiti. We could not do it without the help of local corporations, elected officials, and public-spirited private citizens.
