WWW.QNS.COM RIDGEWOOD TIMES DECEMBER 8, 2016 47 I.S. 77 soccer stars awarded by Greater Ridgewood Youth Council BWG 2006 team takes three of four over the weekend @A_GIUDICEREPORT The Blau Weiss Gottschee (BWG) BY ANTHONY GIUDICE AGIUDICE@RIDGEWOODTIMES.COM 2006 New York City Football Club (NYCFC) team played several games over the weekend, on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Hofstra Bubble Indoor soccer league, and on Sunday, Dec. 4 — their last game of the outdoor season — at New York Soccer Club. On Saturday, the 2006 team won both of their games; the fi rst group defeated East Coast Football Club, while the second group won against Albertson Academy. On Sunday the kids won one game but lost the second game against New York Soccer Club. As a club BWG was honored to watch two products of BWG — Timothy Weah (now at PSG) and Carlo Ritaccio currently with BWG 18 academy — play for the US 17 National Team against Brazil. The Greater Ridgewood Youth Council’s SONYC/ELT Program held an award ceremony for I.S. 77 students that participated in the Soccer for Success Program. Students were presented with a certifi cate for participation and medals on Saturday, Dec. 3, for demonstrating good sportsmanship and working towards their healthy living goals. The GRYC would like to give a special thanks to all parents and students who attended.
