They lit up a giant pine tree at the corner of Myrtle and Cooper avenues, where construction of a new public plaza is ongoing. Santa Claus rolled in on a classic car to greet the children assembled, and members of the Joe Fuoco Music Center helped make the season bright by performing traditional holiday favorites. BY ROBERT POZARYCKI RPOZARYCKI@QNS.COM @ROBBPOZ The Ridgewood Property Owners and Civic Association got everyone in the neighborhood into the holiday spirit on the night of Dec. 1 with its annual tree lighting and concert at I.S. 93. Scores gathered at the school located on Forest Avenue between Madison and Woodbine streets for an evening of entertainment that Photos by Josef Pinlac included some local artists performing classic Christmas carols. The spectacular concert in the school’s auditorium featuring performances by the St. Matthias Adult and Youth Choirs, the Christ the King Concert Band and Chorus and pianist Stephen Haufe. Local dignitaries also off ered their holiday greetings, including City Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley, Assemblywoman Catherine Nolan and Evelyn Cruz, who represents Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez. Santa Claus also made an appearance.
