BWG scores big win over New York City FC
The Blau Weiss Gottschee 2007
Academy teams enjoyed great
performances as they faced
their counterparts from New York
City FC in their regular league game.
In the fi rst game, the 2007 Blue
team came out on top over NYCFC, 3-1.
It was an evenly played game, with
BWG dominating fi rst half, while
NYCFC seeing the better of the second
half.
In the second game, the NYCFC
White team defeated BWG, 7-4.
Meanwhile, the 2006 pre-academy
BWG team won their game in Purchase
against FC Westchester 2-0 to
clinch a spot in the round of 16 of the
New York State Cup.
Blau Weiss’ U7-8 team turned
in strong performances over the
weekend, coming away with a pair of
victories in home and away matches.
On Nov. 10, the boys took on FSF Grenadiers
at Brennan Field and won 4-1.
The next day, Gottschee traveled to
Randalls Island where they dominated
PSG Mbape and cruised to a 10-5 win.
The team will be back in action this
weekend down in Brooklyn to face off
against United Youth Soccer Stars.

More medals for St. Margaret’s/RA
Flyers in cross country meet
The St. Margaret’s/Resurrection
Flyers brought home more
medals in their Cross Country
Diocesan Championship Run.
The Bantam Girls Aileen Mitarotnda,
Olaia Higgins, Caroline Gordon
and Madeline Mauceri received silver
medals for second place in their championship
race.
The Senior girls receive bronze
medals for third place. The team
consisted of Evelyn Johnston, Daniella
Lazarus and Lin Finnegan.
Meanwhile, the Novice girls received
bronze medals for fi ft h place.
The girls were Olivia Santoro, Savanna
Conroy, Mia Watts, Emily Pedicini and
Valentina Calabrese.
Finally, the bantam boys took
home medals of their own. The
team includes Unai Higgins, Frank
Santoro, Luke Minerva, Finn
Healing, Lorenzo Pantaleo, Gavin
Walsh, Anthony Pedicini, Matthew
Gordon, Robert Wetherall and Logan
Debois.
The coaches congratulated novice
Boys Ethan Joseph, Luke Mantel and
Justin Feleciano and junior boy Justin
Catapano for their amazing performance
this cross country season. In
addition, they celebrated the contributions
of the Flyers Peewee team:
Isabella Joseph, Hannah Lucadamo,
Dia Healing, Elaina Calabrese, Lena
Olk, Peter Gordon Jaiden Maxine,
Alexander Roa, Ashton Sirois and
Ryan Feleciano.
The team thanked former Flyer
Nicholas Catapano for coming back
and rabbiting at the meets, as well as
supporting the team. They wished
him the best on his track team at St.
Francis Prep.
