Deputy Inspector Jeffrey Schiff said crime is “down in robberies, assaults burglaries, grand larcenies, grand larceny auto,” at the stationhouse last Wednesday night. “Right now, as of this moment, we’re down 15 percent in crime for the month,” Schiff stated. Though auto thefts continue, three arrests made since August have begun to stem the tide, according to the deputy inspector. “Part of the problems that we are still having, I don’t think that we have combatted the vehicle thefts fully, just yet,” Schiff said. But progress is being made, he noted, explaining the three collars were of suspects with different theft techniques. According to authorities, the incident took place at around 1 a.m. on July 26 outside the -SEE CUFFED ON PG. 27- -SEE 106TH COUN ON PG. 26- Bushwick Burglar Caught On Camera Good Samaritans reportedly caught this man on camera after he allegedly broke into a Bushwick apartment house last Friday afternoon, Oct. 10, according to police. Law enforcement sources said the perpetrator—described as a black male standing 5’8”-tall and weighing between 150 and 180 lbs.—burglarized an apartment building at an undisclosed location within the 83rd Precinct’s confines and removed multiple packages left in the lobby. When the Good Samaritans stopped him outside the location and took his photo, authorities said, the suspect dropped the packages, got on a bicycle and fled.
