This weekend, 7 trains will operate between Queensboro Plaza and Main Street, but with delayed service on Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. During this period, alternate Queensboro Plaza-bound 7 trains will make their last stop at 74th Street, and service between 74th Street and Queensboro Plaza will operate every 12 minutes. As alternate service, the Q train will be extended to the Ditmars Boulevard station on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. For service between Queens and Manhattan, transfer to the N or Q train at Times Square-42nd Street or Queensboro Plaza or the E, F or R trains at 74th Street. Free shuttle buses, meanwhile, will replace 7 train service in Long Island City between Queensboro Plaza and Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue. Stops Jamaica Center-bound J trains and Middle Village-bound M trains will skip the Hewes Street, Lorimer Street and Flushing Avenue stations on Thursday, Oct. 16, and Friday, Oct. 17, from 9:45 a.m. until 3 p.m. For service to these stations, take the J or M train to Myrtle Avenue, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound J or M train. For service from these stations, take the J or M train to Marcy Avenue (Unlimited MetroCard holders only) or Essex Street, then transfer to a Jamaica Centerbound J train or a Middle Village-bound M train. More Disruptions Affect The 7 Line Service on the 7 line will be suspended between Queensboro Plaza and Times Square-42nd Street this weekend, from 2 a.m. -SEE TRANSIT ON PG. 54- TRAFFIC NEWS and Updates New York City Department Of Transportation Metro. Ave. Bridge The Metropolitan Avenue Bridge over the English Kills will be closed this Saturday morning, Oct. 18, from 1 to 5 a.m. to begin staging equipment for the upcoming bridge rehabilitation project. Both pedestrian and vehicular traffic across the span will be prohibited at that time. Westbound traffic will be directed from Metropolitan Avenue southbound along Varick Avenue, then westbound on Johnson Avenue and northbound on Morgan Avenue back to Metropolitan Avenue. Eastbound traffic will be directed from Metropolitan Avenue southbound on Morgan Avenue, then eastbound on Johnson Avenue, northbound on Varick Avenue, eastbound on Ten Eyck Street and northbound on Stewart Avenue back to Metropolitan Avenue. Grand Street Bridge Shut This Saturday The Grand Street Bridge over the Newtown Creek will be closed on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. to allow for repairs to -SEE TRAFFIC ON PG. 54- No Street Cleaning Today And Friday Alternate side parking rules will be suspended today, Thursday, Oct. 16, for the Jewish holy day of Shemini Atzereth; and Friday, Oct. 17, for the Jewish holy day of Simchas Torah. Street cleaning rules will also be suspended next Thursday, Oct. 23, for the Hindu celebration of Diwali. Meter regulations, however, will remain in effect city wide each day. * * * Because of ongoing construction work at several locations throughout Queens and Brooklyn, the city DOT has announced numerous street closures in local neighborhoods for the upcoming week. The announced diversions are current as of Wednesday, Oct. 15, and weather permitting. The DOT may shut down other roads should the need for emergency repairs arise. Streets and highways that are affected by closures during this week include the following: Early Closure For New Members And Duties For 104COP Patrol Gets Ready For Local Parades Frank A. Kotnik, 104COP president, and Elizabeth Delacruz, the patrol’s activities coordinator, introduced Estrella Ocasio, Kevin Powell and Nick Serpanos. Kotnik also recognized and praised 104COP volunteer John Wilczynski for his continued effort and dedication. In the past year alone, Wilczynski has participated in every special parade patrol and traffic detail since last Halloween. Kotnik thanked his fellow volunteers for their service at past community events, including last month's multi-parish procession celebrating the Feast Day of Padre Pio at St. Pancras Church. Kotnik also briefed 104COP members on two upcoming parades in the area. Volunteers will be on patrol at the annual Glendale Halloween Parade along Myrtle Avenue on Friday, Oct. 31. The parade will assemble at 7 p.m. at St. Pancras and proceed down Myrtle Avenue to Stop and Shop supermarket on Cypress Avenue. The 104COP parade detail will patrol the area during and after the parade, until 11 p.m. Volunteers will also offer their services at the annual Queens Veteran's Day Parade in Middle Village on Sunday, Nov. 9. The parade will begin at noon on 80th Street and Metropolitan Avenue and will continue to Christ the King High School for a special commemorative ceremony. The parade will honor Paul and Russ Feeddern, both Vietnam War veterans, who will serve as grand marshals. The patrol will also meet with members of the 104th Precinct to discuss the use of alternative side streets around the parade route to avoid traffic tie-ups and inconveniences, Kotnik noted. Teeing off for the patrol Kotnik and his fellow board members thanked Marilyn McAndrews of Unit 37 for her work in chairing the patrols’ annual golf outing to be held tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 17, at the Forest Park Gold Course, 79-01 Park Lane South in Woodhaven. The fundraising event is sponsored by The Avenue Restaurant as well as other local businesses. Proceeds from the event will benefit the patrol and help in the purchase of essential supplies and equipment for the civilian patrol.
