John and Joe of Gemelli Jewelers were born and raised on
the border of Ridgewood and Glendale. A section of Glendale
called Liberty Park. They went to PS 68, then IS 77 and
ultimately graduated from Franklin K Lane High School in 1993.
John and Joe both attended CUNY Colleges but dropped out after
a couple of years to learn the jewelry trade. At age 23 John and Joe took
the bold step and opened their first jewelry store on Fresh Pond Road. The year was 1998. After
working full time at their older brothers jewelry store for five years and in their third year of
college they both agreed they wanted to take the JUMP, and become entrepreneurs. With a
push of confidence from their brother Luigi and a $1000 deposit on the location on the corner
of Gates Avenue and Fresh Pond Road,Gemelli Jewelers ( which, when translated from Italian
means Twin Jewelers) was on its way from an idea, to something real. Through the idea of
giving customers that old fashioned personal attention, they build their business up to become
examples of what a fine jewelry store in a great neighborhood should be. They always believed
that Honesty, Value, and friendship would help their business thrive. They only hired employees
who could share that vision and just three years later, opened their second location on Grand
Avenue, in Maspeth. Many wonderful employees have come and gone since their first opening
and they take pride in the compliments they receive about all of them.Since then, they have
helped countless amounts of men find that perfect diamond for their future wife, helped them
find the perfect wedding bands to signify their love and devotion. They continue to go to work
everyday, knowing that they are helping "friends" purchase gifts that will be valued and admired
for years to come and for generations.
