The NYPD is looking for a
man who robbed an electronics
store in Ridgewood
earlier this month.
On Friday, Sept. 4, around
11 a.m., an unidentified man
walked into Marjan NY, an
electronics store located at 67-18
Fresh Pond Road, according to
the police.
The man told an employee that
he had a gun and demanded cash,
cops said. They made their way
to the register, where the thief
removed around $200 and a pair
of headphones, before fleeing
on foot in a unknown direction,
according to the NYPD.
No injuries were reported as
result of the incident.
The suspect is described as
a thin man who was last seen
wearing a blue hoodie sweater,
white shirt, dark pants, red
sneakers, a black skeleton face
mask and a black backpack,
police said.
No arrests have been made
and the investigation is
ongoing.

104th Precinct welcomes
new commanding offi cer

The NYPD’s 104th Precinct
welcomed a new commanding
offi cer, Captain Louron Hall, on
Monday, Sept. 21.
Captain Hall has been in the police
force since 2002, and has served on
32nd, 73rd, 77th, 107th and 100th Precincts.
Before the 104th, Captain Hall
served as the Commanding Officer
of the Rockaway’s 100th Precinct
since 2018.
The 104th Precinct Civilian Observation
Patrol (G-COP) wrote that
they’re looking forward to the new
leadership.
“We look forward to working with
him and wish DI Perry all the best
in her new role,” they wrote in a
Facebook post.
The precinct, which covers Ridgewood,
Glendale, Middle Village, and
Maspeth, was previously under the
leadership of Deputy Inspector Victoria
C. Perry for one year. D.I. Perry
will be moving to Manhattan to work
at Community Affairs with Chief Jeff
Maddrey.
“Today was my last day as Commanding
Officer of the 104th precinct,”
D.I. Perry wrote in a Facebook
post on Monday. “I would like to
thank the community, my Supervisors,
Detectives, Cops and Civilian

hard work and dedication. You guys
have been amazing and I will always
have a special place in my heart for
each and every one of you. There is
a saying that ‘all good things come
to an end;’ but I disagree… I like to

An elderly groundskeeper at the Forest Park Golf
Course in Woodhaven died aft er getting into an
altercation with a group of teens trespassing on the
golf course, police announced on Friday.
On Tuesday, Sept. 8, around 2:15 p.m., William Hinchey, 79,
got into a verbal dispute with a group of boys riding bicycles
on the golf course, located at 101 Forest Park Drive, according
to the NYPD. The confrontation escalated and one of the teens
pushed Hinchey, causing him to fall to the ground and break
his hip, cops said.
Police arrived to fi nd Hinchey, a Whitestone resident,
unconscious and unresponsive. He was rushed to Jamaica
Hospital before being transferred to North Shore University
Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead three days
later on Friday, Sept. 11, around 1 p.m., police said.
City Councilman Robert Holden took to Facebook to condemn
the trespassers, suggesting the incident was related to
the larger increase of certain violent crimes throughout the
city in the recent year.
“I will not tolerate this kind of behavior,” Holden said. “The

city cannot keep moving in this direction, and the mayor and
governor must crack down on lawlessness.”
The medical examiner has yet to determine the cause of
the death.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is
ongoing.
