The Uncontested Divorce DIY program was inaugurated at Queens County Supreme Court in Jamaica last Thursday, July 17. As described, the program enables members of the public to access an online program where they can prepare uncontested divorce papers free of charge. The program is available on the New York State Courts website, www.nycourts.gov. Judge Fern A. Fisher, deputy chief administrative judge of the New York City courts, led the initiative; she is also director of the New York State Courts Access to Justice Program. The Uncontested Divorce DIY program is part of Justice Fishers’ dedication to providing the public “meaningful access to justice for all.” The first public space dedicated to the DIY program is on the Queens County Supreme Court’s second floor, where there will be access to court-provide computers to complete this step-by-step program. “We are very pleased to be able to provide the public hands-on access to this vital service,” said Judge Jeremy BOROUGH PRESIDENT TOURS JAMAICA BAY Queens Borough President Melinda Katz joined the Jamaica Bay Ecowatchers on Friday, July 18, on a boat tour of the bay to observe the restoration projects taking place on the marsh lands in the areas of Broad Channel and the Rockaway Peninsula. Film maker Dan Hendrick (not pictured) updated the borough president on projects such as the Sunset Cove wetlands restoration effort, a federally funded initiative to restore the shoreline of the southern portion of Broad Channel Island. The project will create wetlands along the shoreline and include a rock and oyster revetment barrier, a dune berm with a walking trail and an upland forest.
