The class is donation-based and takes place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 16-23 Hancock St. Saturday, July 16 Music: Out In The Streets Festival @ The Vander-Ende Onderdonk House Out In The Streets micro festival brings two days of music, art, food, and fun on 2 acres of outdoor park land at the historic Onderdonk House. The fest is now in its fourth year, bringing the best emerging NYC bands to the Ridgewood audience. The festival features also a pop-up Ridgewood Market, a food court featuring some of the best local Bushwick and Ridgewood eats, as well as carefully curated artist installations. Out In The Streets Festival takes place Saturday and Sunday, July 16 through 17, from 1 to 11 p.m. The VanderEnde-Onderdonk Farm House is located at 1820 Flushing Ave., Ridgewood. Tickets cost $24 per day or $38 for both days. Community: Hancock St. Block Party Come meet the community at the annual Hancock St. Block Party. Expect Live Salsa Bands, a bouncy castle, water slide (bring your swim suit), a kiddie pool, yoga demonstrations from Ridgewood Yoga Studio, food and dancing in the street! While you’re there you can check out Lorimoto Gallery’s art space and their current gallery show “Heavenly Places.” The event is free and takes place on Hancock street between Cypress Avenue and Wyckoff Avenue and goes from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 17 Community: Community Garden Meeting @ Woodbine If you’re interested in helping to brainstorm a community garden in Ridgewood, this event is for you. On Sunday, local fellow green thumbs are holding an open meeting discussing opportunities for building green spaces in the neighborhood. The meeting is free, starts at 2 p.m., and takes place at 1882 Woodbine St. Monday, July 18 Cinema: Maysles Cinema Mondays presents Monterey Pop @ Nowadays (FREE) Maysles Cinema in Manhattan is curating a pop-up non-fiction film series at outdoor beer garden Nowadays. This week’s edition features a documentary called “Monterey Pop.” The film chronicles one of the world’s greatest musical gatherings — the 1967 California festival Monterey Pop. The film features performances from The Mamas and the Papas, Simon & Garfunkel, Jefferson Airplane, The Who, Otis Redding and The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Hendrix’s postperformance antics — lighting a guitar on fire, breaking it and tossing a part into the audience — are captured. The admission is free and the screening starts at sundown. Nowadays is located at 56-06 Cooper Ave. Food: Meatloaf Mondays @ The Bad Old Days Every night of the week is a good time to grab a drink and snack after work at neighborhood bar The Bad Old Days, but this (and every upcoming) Monday might turn into the default pick because of their Meatloaf Monday special, which includes an order of meatloaf sliders and any draft beer for just $11. The Bad Old Days is located at 1684 Woodbine Ave. Tuesday, July 19 Learning: The History of Science: The Industrial Revolution @ Nowadays ($10) Think Olio is a new lecture featuring series salon-style classes, taught by college professors for people who want to expand their worldview. This week’s class explores how the Industrial Revolution was the Enlightenment’s biggest and most successful assault on reality and what we can do to get the world back. The class costs $10 and starts at 7:30 p.m. at 56-06 Cooper Ave. Wednesday, July 20 Music: Gypsy Jazz @ The Keep (FREE) Every Wednesday, the Avalon Jazz Band leads local musicians to spit some jazz tunes among the artful collection of junk and treasures that The Keep bar has on display.
