10 times • JULY 14, 2016 FOR BREAKING NEWS VISIT www.qns.com police beat Compiled By Robert Pozarycki and Anthony Giudice Bicyclist injured after being struck by a car near Juniper Valley Park A bike-riding man is expected to make a recovery after being struck and injured by a vehicle on a street near Juniper Valley Park in Middle Village on July 13, police sources said. The incident took place at 8:35 a.m. on Lutheran Avenue near Juniper Boulevard North. According to authorities, the 64-year-old male victim was pedaling his bike northbound on Lutheran Avenue when he was hit by a Honda Civic that was moving into a parking space on the street. Officers from the 104th Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene. Paramedics brought the bicyclist to Elmhurst Hospital for injuries to his leg that are not considered life-threatening. No charges were filed against the unidentified driver, and an investigation is ongoing. Teen toting Xanax pills busted in Middle Village A teen was arrested in Middle Village’s Juniper Valley Park on July 12 for carrying over two dozen Xanax pills, the 104th Precinct announced. The precinct’s commanding officer, Captain Mark Wachter, put out a community notice about the arrest, which took place at approximately 11:19 p.m. on July 12. According to the notice, the 104th Precinct Conditions Unit arrested a 16-year-old male resident of Maspeth inside of Juniper Valley Park in Middle Village for possessing 27 Xanax pills. The individual, whose name has been withheld because he is a minor, was also wanted for a grand larceny — a stolen wallet from a vehicle — that occurred in Glendale back on June 1. The male has a criminal history including prior robberies, grand larceny and numerous auto breakins, police said. He is currently incarcerated on Rikers Island. 106th Precinct South Central Queens Off-duty cop arrested for domestic assault An NYPD sergeant found himself in handcuffs on July 6 after he allegedly choked and assaulted his girlfriend at her South Ozone Park residence, police said. Sergeant Sergio Gonzalez was taken into custody just after 3:20 a.m. in the vicinity of Lefferts Boulevard and 135th Avenue, law enforcement sources said. Officers from the 106th Precinct responded to a 911 call about the incident, in which Gonzalez allegedly struck and choked his 28-yearold girlfriend in the middle of an argument. She suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene. Police sources said Gonzalez is assigned to a precinct in Queens, but declined to identify it. He was charged with criminal mischief, criminal obstruction of breathing and harassment.
