The worlds of art and real estate
will soon collide in a new condominium
development in Long
Island City, coming to the fast-growing
Queens neighborhood next year.
GALERIE is a new 11-story, 182-residence
condominium, located at 22-18
Jackson Ave., across the street from
the MoMA P.S. 1 museum.
In addition to a conventional living
environment, the building will
feature a curated art program for
residents and the community through
its ArtBox — a permanent, street-level
rotating art exhibit dedicated to showing
the art of local artists. The art will
be featured throughout the common
spaces and in the building’s own sales
gallery, located at 22-22 Jackson Ave.
next to the condominium.
The artists whose work will be
featured in GALERIE’s initial exhibition
include Christopher Spinelli, Cara
Lynch, Kyoko Takei, Miya Ando, Fei
Li, Monica Delgado, Preston Trombly,
Ann Coft a and Nancy Gesimondo. In
addition, the sales gallery will feature
a total of 20 artists whose work will be
available for purchase, ranging from
$275 to $10,000 per piece. Those interested
can buy works directly from the
artists.
GALERIE will feature a concrete,
brick and glass façade, and three
unique architectural glazing styles:
punched, curtain wall and window
wall. The building’s exterior is
designed by the New York-based ODA
architecture fi rm, with interiors by
Paris Forino Interior Design. When
complete, GALERIE will have studio
apartments, along with one-, two- and
three- bedroom homes.
Residents of the building will be
able to enjoy 13,000 square feet of amenities,
including a 39-by-13 foot indoor
pool, fi tness center and movement studio,
library with books selected from
the MoMA PS1 bookstore, lounge area
and expansive rooft op terrace. Secure
bike storage, enclosed parking spaces
and rooft op cabanas for purchase will
also be available.
Though it is currently under construction,
GALERIE is slated to be
fi nished by mid-2019, according to a
spokesperson for the development.
