Police fi nd thousands in cash and drugs in Ridgewood home

Police recently took a massive
amount of drugs off the street
when they raided a Ridgewood
home and arrested the suspected
dealer.
On May 10 at approximately 8:20
a.m., the Queens North Narcotics
team executed a search warrant of a
residence on 71st Avenue. The suspect,
Fernando Torres, 49, was getting out
of his 2016 Mazda when the police
arrived, and he told police that there
were drugs in his car and upstairs
in the building, according to court
documents.
Inside the car, police recovered a
black plastic bag that contained the
following narcotics:
• 542 oxycodone pills
• 29 amphetamine dextroamphetamine
(Adderall) pills
• 89 hydrocodone acetaminophen
(Vicodin) pills
• 26 acetaminophen propoxyphene
(Darvocet) pills
• 26 baggies containing cocaine
• 27 zolpidem (Ambien) pills
• 28 methylphenidate (Ritalin) pills
• 150 alprazolam (Xanax) pills
• 45 diazepam (Valium) pills

• 127 oxycodone hydrochloride (Roxicodone)
pills
• 195 morphine pills.
Once inside the residence, police
recovered another long list of drugs
and paraphernalia from a bedroom
closet as follows:
• 439 acetaminophen propoxyphene

• 20 baggies containing cocaine
• One large zip-lock containing
cocaine
• One scale with cocaine on it
• One spoon with cocaine on it
• One scraper with cocaine on it
• One vial containing cocaine
• Two plastic containers with cocaine
inside
• One blender containing cocaine
In total, police recovered more than
four ounces of cocaine from the bust,
court records show. As they continued
to search the bedroom, police discovered
even more pills and large sums
of cash inside of a dresser drawer as
follows:
• 924 alprazolam (Xanax) pills
• 93 trazodone (Desyrel) pills
• 150 zolpidem (Ambien) pills
• 200 diazepam (Valium) pills
• $34,660 in cash
Then, on top of a closet in the hallway
police recovered a duffel bag
containing $419,900 in cash. Police
also found nine more Adderall pills
on the kitchen counter, according to
the complaint.
Torres has been charged with
criminal possession of a controlled
substance in the second degree,
criminal possession of a controlled
substance in the third degree, 12
counts of criminal possession of a controlled
substance in the fi ft h degree,
criminal possession of a controlled
substance in the seventh degree and
criminally using drug paraphernalia
in the second degree.
He is currently being held on
$300,000 bond and $150,000 cash bail,
and he is due to appear in court again
on June 1, according to court records.
