THIEF STEALS 22 BOTTLES
OF MUCINEX FROM M.V.
PHARMACY
Flu season is over now, but don’t tell
that to this Middle Village larceny suspect
who recently ripped off hundreds
of dollars’ worth of cough syrup from
a local store.
According to police, the suspect
entered the Walgreens near Elliot Avenue
and 80th Street at approximately
8:18 p.m. on April 27. Once inside, the
suspect was seen by a witness taking
22 bottles of Mucinex from a store
shelf and then fl ed the store without
paying.
On Walgreens’ website, the cost of
one bottle of Mucinex is approximately
$15, which would make the congested
thief’s crime worth roughly $330.
The 104th Precinct released a photo
of the suspect on Twitter from the
store’s surveillance cameras, but there
is no offi cial description of the suspect
available.

COPS CUFF SUSPECTS
WHO FIRED SHOTS IN
GLENDALE
Offi cers from the 104th Precinct recently
arrested the two suspects who
were at large aft er shooting at a man in
front of his Glendale home.
Police apprehended both Ruben
Cortez, 19, and Jeremy Maldonado,
22, on May 3, just two days aft er the
shooting.
The criminal complaint from the
Queens District Attorney’s office
states that, on May 1 at approximately
1:40 p.m., the victim saw Cortez walking
down 80th Avenue toward him.
While approaching the victim, Cortez
allegedly pulled out a gun and fi red
multiple shots at the victim then fl ed
the scene on foot.
Investigators collected fi ve .380-caliber
bullet casings and two bullet fragments
in front of multiple residences
along 80th Avenue, according to the
complaint.
According to court records, Cortez
has been charged with reckless endangerment,
criminal possession of
a weapon and attempted murder. He
is being held on $25,000 bond or cash
bail and is next due to appear in court
on May 18.
Maldonado’s case is sealed, authorities
said.
