Glendale robber
assaults store
employee

Police are trying to fi nd the bandit
who recently robbed a Glendale
business and punched an
employee that confronted him.
The incident took place on April 2,
when the suspect walked into a corner
store on Myrtle Avenue and 79th
Lane at approximately 12:05 p.m. An
employee told police he observed the
man walk around the store and take
items off the shelf, authorities said.
Law enforcement sources said the
crook then walked out of the store
with the items, including cereal, iced
tea, coff ee and cigarettes, police said.
The store employee then followed
the man outside and confronted him.
According to police, the perpetrator
and the employee then went back
inside the store and the confrontation
escalated. Cops said the bandit
became aggressive and punched the
worker in the right eye, then took off
with the stolen goods.
Offi cers from the 104th Precinct
responded to the incident; there
was no word on the extent of the
victim’s injuries.
Sources familiar with the investigation
could not confi rm whether
suspect is connected to other commercial
robberies that have taken
place recently.
Cops described the suspect as a
black man between 6 feet and 6 feet,
3 inches tall with a medium build;
he was last seen wearing a brown
jacket and grey pants.
