The weather may have felt more
like a fall classic, but the boys
and girls of summer were out
in full force for the Ridgewood-Glendale
Middle Village-Maspeth (RGMVM)
Little League Opening Day
Parade through Glendale on April 7.
Teams of young baseball stars,
escorted by their parents and members
of the 104th Precinct and the
104th Precinct Civilian Observation
Patrol, marched from Mafera Park in
Ridgewood to their home turf, Seither
Stadium in Glendale.
Along the way, they were cheered
on by local residents, merchants and
even fi refi ghters from Engine Company
286/Ladder Company 135, whose
headquarters are along the Myrtle
Avenue parade route.
Soon after arriving at Seither
Stadium, the league commenced
with Opening Day ceremonies, with
Councilman Robert Holden having the
honor of throwing out the fi rst pitch of
the new baseball season.
