OBITUARIES
DANIEL FERNANDO died Thursday, March 19, at the age of 72. He
was the beloved husband of Genoveva Fernando and loving father of
Daniel Fernando Jr., Armand Fernando, Pamela Fernando and Neil
Fernando. He was the cherished grandfather of Tricia, Christine,
Adrian, Jamie, Andrew, Dan, Arvin, Rennie, Nate and Nicholas and
great-grandfather of Tovi. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March
24, at Papavero Funeral Home, followed by cremation at Fresh Pond
Crematory, Middle Village, under the direction of Papavero Funeral
Home, Maspeth.

WILLIAM PELZAR died Wednesday, March 18, at the age of 97.
He was the beloved husband of the late Pauline Pelzar, loving father
of Karen Balsamo, cherished grandfather of Joshua and dear uncle to
many loving nieces and nephews. He was a United States Army Veteran
who served in World War II. Funeral services were held Friday,
March 20, at Papavero Funeral Home, followed by interment at Mt.
Olivet Cemetery, Maspeth, under the direction of Papavero Funeral
Home, Maspeth.

MARTA MATTIA, originally from Brooklyn, but more recently
of Glendale died at the age of 94. She was the mother of Romana and
Adriana Biedermann. Mattia is also survived by her son-in-law Andy
Biedermann and her two grandchildren, Max and Kira, whom she
adored. At her request no services will be held. In lieu of fl owers, Mattia
wished any monetary donations be made in her name to St. Jude’s
Children Hospital.
