This year the Knights earned the No. 2 seed in the East Regional bracket. Queens College (24-4) will take on the seventh-seeded Assumption College Greyhounds (19-8) in the opening round on Friday, March 10. The East Regional will be hosted by top-seeded Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y. The regional semifinals will take place on Saturday, March 11, while the regional finals will be played on Monday, March 13. The Knights are the only team in the region to have made the tournament in each of the last three seasons. Queens College was one of three East Coast Conference (ECC) teams in the region, as fellow members Molloy College and NYIT earned spots as well. Bentley University, Caldwell University and University of the Sciences rounded out the region. Queens College has already tied the program record with 24 wins this season, and ended their regular season with 16 straight wins to claim the ECC Regular Season Championship. Senior Madison Rowland, who leads the nation in steals per game, was named ECC Player of the Year, while redshirt senior MacKenzie Rowland was chosen as the league’s Defensive Player of the Year, and head coach Elizabeth Naumovski was voted ECC Coach of the Year. The Knights and Greyhounds met back on Nov. 27, with Assumption earning a 67-59 home victory. In last year’s NCAA East Regional, the Knights defeated Holy Family University in the first round before falling to national semifinalist Bentley in the regional semifinals. hdnux.com
