According to police, Niaz Khan and a female accomplice got into a verbal dispute with a man inside the building’s lobby on Feb. 8, when things quickly turned physical. First, the female punched the victim in the head, then Niaz bashed a glass bottle over the man’s head, leaving him with cuts to his face and head, prosecutors said. e pair then wrestled their victim to the ground, grabbing at his clothes and swinging a chair at him. During the altercation, the victim’s wallet and cell phone fell out of his pocket, the criminal complaint added. Video surveillance from the lobby showed the female attacker pick up the phone and wallet and exit the lobby. O cers from the 104th Precinct made the arrest on March 5, when Khan was also charged with assaulting his female roommate in their Astoria apartment. Cops from the 114th Precinct also found an imitation air pistol inside the apartment. Khan is due back in court on March 10 and 20 for both cases. According to police, the attack took place at 3 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22, when an unknown suspect used an unknown object to stab and slice the 41-year-old male victim in his head and lower right arm outside of a home on 95th Street near 91st Avenue. Aft er the attack, the suspect — last seen wearing a red sweatshirt and white slacks — fl ed the scene of the crime on a bike in an unknown direction, law enforcement agents said. Offi cers from the 102nd Precinct arrived on scene with EMS units; the victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police stated. No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
