St. Pat’s for All march fi lls Queens streets with Irish pride
The St. Pat’s for All Parade marked
its 20th year of celebrating Irish
pride and heritage on March 3
with a march through the streets of
Sunnyside and Woodside.
The all-inclusive parade brought
together local elected offi cials, bands,
school groups and organizations of all
kinds for the parade from the corner of
43rd Street and Skillman Avenue in Sunnyside
to the intersection of 58th Street
and Woodside Avenue in Woodside.
First held in 2000, the St. Pat’s for
All Parade welcomed members of the
LGBTQ community at a time when
such organizations were banned from
marching under a banner during the
traditional St. Patrick’s Day Parade in
Manhattan. It has since grown into
one of the largest commemorations of
St. Patrick’s Day in New York City.
Among the dignitaries who participated
in this year’s parade were
Attorney General Letitia James, State
Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, Congresswomen
Carolyn Maloney and
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Queens
Borough President Melinda Katz,
Assemblywoman Catherine Nolan,
state Senator Michael Gianaris, City
Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer, Fire
Commissioner Daniel Nigro and Irish
Consul General Ciaran Madden.
Dancer/choreographer Sean Curran
and actress Fionnula Flanagan served
as this year’s grand marshals.
