BWG’s soccer teams show off their talent
Several of Blue Weiss Gottschee’s
soccer teams competed in different
indoor tournaments.
BWG’s Pre-Academy 2007 boys’ squad
fi nished in second place in the annual
Kickers Junior Soccer Club tournament.
The team went undefeated in the group
stage, but came up short in the fi nal
match.
The 2007 Academy team, playing
a year up, competed in the Rockland
Community College tournament and
earned a fi rst place fi nish. The White
team competed at their age level and
fi nished in second place.
The BWG 2005 Pre-Academy squad
was crowned the U-14 champion of the
CJSL Winter Indoor Soccer League. The
team dominated the league, with both
teams going undefeated.
The St. Margaret’s/Resurrection
Flyers brought home several medals in
the Diocesan Championship in memory
of teammate Josiah Boulet.
Among the first place winners
were Bantam boys Frank Santoro,
Lorenzo Pantaleo, Finn Healing, Luke
Minerva, who earned a medal for
their performance in the 800-meter
medley relay.
Peewee boy Jaiden Maxine
wwclinched fi rst place in the standing
long jump event.
There were also several silver
medalists among the group, including
Bantam girl Caroline Gordon
(800-meter run); junior girl Olaia
Higgins (400-meter run) and Bantam
boy Matthew Gordon (400-meter run);
junior girl Lin Finnegan (running long
jump) and Bantam boy Thomas Fischer
(running long jump); and Peewee girl
Eliana Calabrese (standing long jump).
Among the team’s third place
winners were Novice boys Ethan
Joseph, Luke Mantel, Justin Feliciano,
and James Gordon, who earned medals
for their performance in the 600-meter
medley relay.
Also taking home bronze medals

were senior boy Sean Walsh and
Bantam boy Gavin Walsh — who
are brothers — for their individual
performances in the 800-meter run.
Other medal winners include novice
girls Lena Olk, Valentina Calabrese,
Hannah Lucadamo, and Mia Watts, for
their performance in the 600-meter
medley relay.
Junior boys Unai Higgins and Justin
Catapano also medaled in the 400-meter
run, while junior girl Evelyn Johnston
earned a medal for her showing in the
200-meter run.

Pedicini (standing long jump), along

were awarded medals.
The coaches also congratulated
senior boy Matthew Fernandez and
junior girl Sophia Fernandez for their
showing in the 200-meter dash and
Bantam boys Anthony Pedicini and
Logan Dobis for their performance in
the 400-meter run.
The team also thanks former Flyer
Nicholas Catapano for volunteering to
help the meet run smoothly.
The 2007 Academy white team earned a second place fi nish.
