Brown announced. Brown identified the defendant as Vishwanand Subryan, 24, of upstate Schenectady. Subryan pleaded guilty to second-degree vehicular manslaughter on Nov. 10, 2014. Last Monday, Jan. 12, Acting Queens Supreme Court Justice Dorothy Chin-Brandt sentenced Subryan to an indeterminate sentence of 1 1/2 to four years behind bars, and following his release, must have an active ignition interlock installed in his vehicle for three years. “This case is another tragic example of how deadly motor vehicles can be and the consequences of climbing behind the wheel of an automobile after consuming alcohol,” Brown said. According to the charges, two NYPD officers assigned to the 102nd Precinct were on 117th Street at approximately 7 p.m. on Sept. 13, 2013, when they heard a loud bang from behind them. The officers saw the defendant driving a silver Toyota Camry speed past them, going roughly 30 miles per hour over the speed limit. According to the report, the defendant failed to stop at a stop sign and continued through a solid red light. The officers pursued him and pulled him over. According to court records, an intoxilyzer test administered at the 112th Precinct showed Subryan had a blood alcohol level of .09 percent—above the New York State legal limit of .08 percent. At the scene of the loud bang, officers found Raj K. Chohan, 59, in cardiac arrest on the ground between two parked cars. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead, police reported. Assistant District Attorney Marilyn A.
