Long-term construction related to the state Department of Transportation’s Kew Gardens Interchange project will require the right lane of Union Turnpike eastbound to be closed at all times between 128th and 134th streets. All existing traffic lanes will remain open and are shifted to the left. Sewer Work Leads To Pkwy. Closures One of three lanes of the Belt Parkway between Cross Bay Boulevard and 194th Street in either direction may be closed on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and weeknights 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Additionally, two of three lanes in either direction may be closed in this segment on early weekday mornings from 1 to 5 a.m. The closures are required to allow for sewer reconstruction, which is expected to continue through July 2016. Furthermore, one of two lanes of the Nassau Expressway exit ramp to the eastbound Belt Parkway between 115th and 128th streets will be closed until further notice. N Trains Skip Stops In Astoria Weekdays Manhattan-bound N trains will skip the 30th Avenue, Broadway, 36th Avenue and 39th Avenue stations on Tuesday through Friday, Jan. 20-23, from 10:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. During this period, there will be no Q train service between 57th Street and Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard. For service to the skipped stations, take the N train to Queensboro Plaza, then transfer to an Astoria-bound N train. For service from these stations, take the N train to Astoria Boulevard, then transfer to a Manhattanbound N train. Weekend E Trains Disrupted In Jam. E train service will be suspended between Van Wyck Boulevard and Jamaica Center this weekend, from 11:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, until 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19. This service change will be in effect the following weekend, Jan. 23-26. During this period, E trains will operate normally between World Trade Center and Van Wyck Boulevard, and on the F line to Jamaica-179th Street. Alternate-side parking rules will be suspended on Monday, Jan. 19, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Meter regulations, however, will remain in effect citywide. * * * Because of ongoing construction work at several locations throughout Queens and Brooklyn, the city DOT has announced numerous street closures in local neighborhoods for the upcoming week. The announced diversions are current as of Wednesday, Jan. 7, and weather permitting. The DOT may shut down other roads should the need for emergency repairs arise. Streets and highways that are affected by closures during this week include the following: Lane Closures On Grand Central Pkwy. One lane of the Grand Central Parkway in each direction will be closed between 82nd and 111th streets on weekdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. on weekdays. Lane closures will also take place from 10 p.m. Fridays to 7 a.m. Saturdays and from 10 p.m. Saturdays to 3 p.m. Sundays. Two lanes of traffic in each direction may be closed on weeknights from 12:01 until 5 Monday, Jan. 19. During this period, 7 trains will operate between Queensboro Plaza and Flushing-Main Street, but Flushing-bound 7 trains will run express service between Queensboro Plaza and 74th Street. Additionally, Q trains will be extended to the Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard station on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. For alternate service between Queens and Manhattan, transfer to the N or Q train at Queensboro Plaza or Times Square-42nd Street; or the E, F or R train at 74th Street. Additionally, free shuttle buses will replace 7 trains in Long Island City between Queensboro Plaza and Vernon Boulevard- Jackson Avenue. These buses will stop at the Queens Plaza station for ADA access to the E or R trains. The shuttle buses will stop as follows: • Queensboro Plaza—on Queens Plaza South at 27th Street; • Queens Plaza—on 42nd Road at Jackson Avenue; • Court Square-23rd Street— on Jackson Avenue at 45th Avenue (to Vernon Boulevard- Jackson Avenue) or at Thomson Avenue (to Queensboro Plaza); • Hunters Point Avenue—on 21st Street at 49th Avenue; and • Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue—on Vernon Boulevard and 50th Avenue.
