Ridgewood thieves break into storage facility on New Year’s Day

Police need your help in fi nding
a man who worked with other
crooks to break into numerous
lockers at a Ridgewood storage facility
early on New Year’s Day.
The NYPD released on Jan. 9 images
of the suspect connected to what police
described as grand larcenies that occurred
on Jan. 1 inside the CubeSmart
storage facility at 1060 Wyckoff Ave.
Based on reports from the victims
and an ensuing investigation, police
determined that the crooks got in at
6:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, gaining entry by
forcing open the side entrance to the
building. Once inside, authorities said,
the bandits broke the latches to several
storage units and stole a signifi cant
amount of property.
Four victims reported missing property
to police in the following days. A
32-year-old female victim reported two
missing laptop computers. A 67-yearold
female victim reported a television
and jewelry missing from her unit.
A 47-year-old female victim told
police that a scooter, electronics and
fi shing equipment were missing, while a
55-year-old male victim reported the loss
of numerous power tools and clothing.

When contacted by QNS, CubeSmart
declined to comment on the incident.
Police described the suspect as a
Hispanic man with eyeglasses who
was last seen wearing a black coat and
dark-colored baseball cap with white
NY lettering on its front.

The other two individuals were
both described as male, though no
other physical details were available,
police said.
