Just days after City Councilman
Robert Holden sent painters from
a nonprofi t to the Andrews Avenue
Bridge in Maspeth to paint over graffi
ti, vandals were back at it again with
new tags on the fresh paint.
Crews from the Fedcap Group, a
nonprofi t that addresses quality of
life issues, were at the bridge in Maspeth
on Dec. 21 but had to return just
days later to cover up a new blemish
on the guardrail, according to Charlene
Stubbs, who posted about it on
Facebook.
“We will continue to tackle this
issue as quickly as we can, and we
encourage the community to continue
reaching out to our offi ce with graffi ti
locations,” Holden said. “We will also
continue working with the 104th and
108th Precincts on chronic graffi ti sites
near industrial areas.”
Graffi ti is commonplace in many
parts of Maspeth, including industrial
sections near the Brooklyn border
where artists frequent.
“Councilman Robert Holden sent Fed
Cap back to the Andrews Ave Bridge
today to paint over the graffi ti that reappeared
Saturday aft er they painted
over it Thursday,” Stubbs wrote in the
group called Ridgewood, Maspeth,
Middle Village, Glendale & Beyond.
