The EAC Network ensures that the person receives proper treatment for his or her condition. The network also continues to monitor the person and provide the courts with regular status updates until they feel the person is stable. “There’s a vicious cycle of people going in and out of jail and prison. One of the benefits of having programs like ours is that we are able to identify needs and get people the help to address them.” said Chandler. This program also helps communities around the city. After taking the mentally ill and drug addicted and getting them the treatment they need, EAC also helps their clients identify ways to change their criminal thinking and find jobs or training programs. “Our clients receive all of the services needed to return them back to the community with the hopes that they won’t go back to drugs or get arrested again,” Chandler said. “We’re able to divert people from prison to other services. Because we’re offering these services, we’re changing the dynamic of these communities entirely.
