According to the NYPD, the fi rst robbery occurred on Saturday, November 23 at approximately 12:25 a.m. in the vicinity of 58th Road and 138th Street in Flushing. The two suspects approached a 22-year-old male victim, placed him in a chokehold, displayed a fi rearm and then removed his Samsung Galaxy cell phone and wallet. No medical attention was requested after the incident. The second robbery took place the same day at approximately 12:45 a.m. in the vicinity of 84th Drive and 148th Street in Briarwood, said police. The suspects approached the 31-year-old male and 38-year-old female victims, displayed a fi rearm and removed their iPhone, purse and wallet, and then fl ed. No medical attention was requested after this incident. The suspects are described as 18 to 20-year-old males, approximately 5’7”to 5’9”, with thin builds. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. Flushing attempted rape suspect charged Cops have arrested a man and charged him with the attempted rape of a woman in Flushing, said police. David Diaz, 24, of Flushing, is accused of following the 23-year-old victim from a bus stop around Melbourne Avenue and Kissena Boulevard at about 4:45 a.m. on November 1, according to police. He then allegedly grabbed her by the throat, shoved her to the ground and punched her in the head. The suspect allegedly tried to rape the woman, but fl ed when a witness heard the victim’s screams for help, said cops. The witness yelled to the attacker that he had called 9-1-1. Livery driver arrested for JFK Airport stabbing A Flushing man has been arrested for a stabbing at John F. Kennedy International Airport Friday after getting involved in a dispute with another man. The incident began outside of Terminal 8 around 4:45 p.m. on Friday, November 22, then spilled into a parking lot, where one of the men stabbed the other above the left eye, according to the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. Port Authority Police detectives arrested livery cab driver Guang Zheng, 50, at 10 p.m. in Flushing after he drove off, said Port Authority of New York & New Jersey spokesperson Joe Pentangelo. Zheng was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon Zheng was also arrested by the Port Authority Police last month for operating an illegal livery cab at JFK Airport, according to Pentangelo. The stabbing victim, who was transported to Jamaica Hospital after the incident, suffered non life-threatening injuries, said the spokesperson. 110TH PRECINCT Corona, Elmhurst Woman fatally shot in Elmhurst A woman is dead after she was shot in Elmhurst. Police, responding to a 9-1-1 call, found 29-year-old Carolina Cobena around 1:50 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26 inside her 52nd Avenue apartment with a gunshot wound to the head, said cops. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. As of press time there were no arrests and the investigation was ongoing, according to police. Photo courtesy of Port Authority of New York & New Jersey Multi-million dollar trademark counterfeiting rings, operating from facilities in Queens and Brooklyn, have been charged for illegally importing, manufacturing and distributing items nationwide. According to District Attorney Richard A. Brown, four rings have been dismantled after the indictment of 26 individuals and two corporations for allegedly importing and selling counterfeit brand name apparel and other items from China to wholesale buyers throughout the U.S. and the Virgin Islands. The four rings allegedly generated close to $10 million in combined gross annual revenue, operating out of self-storage facilities in the two boroughs. Nuisance abatement lawsuits will be fi led against the facilities that allegedly were being used, as well as their owners and operators and those defendants who actually ran the illegal businesses from within the sites. Nineteen of the defendants were arraigned on Tuesday, November, 19 and Wednesday, November 20. Twelve of the defendants have been indicted for enterprise corruption under New York State’s Organized Crime Control Act. The remaining defendants face felony trademark counterfeiting and conspiracy charges. Seven of the individuals charged in connection to the bust were Queens residents, according to the district attorney. The investigation, called “Operation Finish Line,” began in November 2010, and included the apprehension of counterfeit merchandise with an estimated street value of $750,000.
