Expires 12/10/14 FREE DELIVERY The Great Neck Plaza Business Improvement District (BID) will be participating in American Express’ Shop Small Business Saturday on November 29, 2014 with its first ever $2,500 Shopping Spree Scavenger Hunt. Shop Small Business Saturday, first introduced by American Express in 2010, is a day for both business owners and shoppers to celebrate local businesses. The scavenger hunt involves shoppers discovering the location of 14, 5-foot giraffes located in stores and on sidewalks throughout Great Neck Plaza’s downtown shopping district. Clues to the giraffes’ locations will be provided on the Great Neck Plaza BID’s website starting on November 19, as well as on a clue poster positioned with each giraffe. Each giraffe will have a specific letter identified on its torso. The 14 letters spell out a secret, two word phrase that must be deciphered to enter the contest to win the $2,500 shopping spree (second and third place prizes will be $350 shopping sprees at stores in Great Neck Plaza). Shoppers who decipher the two-word mystery phrase can enter the contest on the Great Neck Plaza BID’s website at www.ShopGreatNeck.com. Entries for the contest will be accepted through midnight on Sunday, November 30. However, the giraffes will only be up on Shop Small Business Saturday, coming down at the end of the shopping day. “Shop Small Business Saturday is a great opportunity for our community, as well as shoppers from all our neighboring villages and towns, to celebrate our local merchants,” said Ron Edelson, Executive Director of the Great Neck Plaza BID. “There will be great sales offering shoppers fantastic value and savings, and of course a day of fun and intrigue with our first ever scavenger hunt promotion.” All participating businesses are within walking distance of the Long Island Railroad Great Neck station, and parking is available on-street, in municipal parking fields and in garages.
