Daniel Sheffer, of Forest Hills, and a group of fans have raised more than $50,000 in just two weeks in a campaign to try to convince Pearl Jam to play a show in the stadium. Sheffer hopes to raise a total of $100,000, and there are still more than 70 days left in the campaign. Forest Hills Stadium has held many high-profi le music shows over the years, including the Talking Heads and The Beatles. The Who is slated to play in 2015. But unlike most of these shows, efforts to raise money to bring in Pearl Jam aren’t backed by any corporate sponsors. “We’re trying to keep it as pure as possible,” Sheffer said. “I’m not a concert promoter, but I have the tenacity to learn it as I go along. It’s organic.” As a child, Sheffer listened to the ’90s band, led by vocalist Eddie Vedder, in his Forest Hills home, not far away from the stadium. “It just seems really appropriate to have the band come to the area and play a concert that was created by fans,” Sheffer said.
