Weidman, Associate Professor of English and Director of American Studies at Queens College, CUNY, will discuss the literary, historical, cultural, and social significance of one of America’s greatest writers, Samuel Langhorne Clemens, a.k.a. Mark Twain (1835-1910). Called the “Father of American Literature” by William Faulkner, Twain is considered by many to be, at the very least, America’s premier humorist and satirist. Prof. Weidman will give an overview of Twain’s work from all periods of his life. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation. Light refreshments will be served.
