All her passions have come to fruition. She has dramatically raised the bar in the industry, and her peers have honored her for her achievements. This year she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Oribe. Her expertise as a business leader has been recognized by Mayor Michael Bloomberg as one of the most prestigious business owners in Queens, a true testament to her long-standing commitment to her clients and her staff. Christie proudly serves as the fi rst female president of the Intercoiffure organization, which represents the leading salons in America and Canada. Today she has built a brand and is a legend in the industry! “We are considered the industry leader,” says Christie. “But the journey never ends. Renovating the space is part of her efforts to continue her mission to motivate and educate her staff. She provides continuing education for all her staff, bringing celebrity stylists to train her hairdressers. “I want to make everyone who walks through our doors to feel the luxury and commitment of providing them with a unique experience,” said Christie. “This is a great profession, and by focusing on training, we reinforce that idea with the staff and afford our clients a luxurious, professional experience, at affordable prices,” said Christie. Christie, the salon’s founder 43 years ago, serves as president, CEO, and head colorist, explains that since she opened the doors in 1970, the core of her business has always been hair color. “We are known for being experts in color, and I personally train each colorist on staff in the latest techniques and products,” she says. The retail area of the salon has been enlarged and the additional space affords clients a variety of unique products and services. In addition to Christie’s namesake line of Christie Cosmetics, the retail section also carries hair accessories and luxury brands like Kerastase, Bumble & Bumble, Oribe, as well as numerous high-end tools such as blowers and brushes. The salon’s new luxury nail center offers manicures and pedicures, in addition to long-lasting acrylic, fi berglass, and gel options.
