Tony remains at the forefront of the battle to reform the New York City’s Department of Buildings and Board of Standards and Appeals. Tony is also an acknowledged leader for animal welfare, veterans and senior issues and a fighter for property tax fairness for cooperative and condominium property owners. He is the first Greek-American to be elected to office from New York City. Born in Astoria, Queens, Senator Gianaris is a graduate of the New York City public school system, having attended Public School 84, Junior High School 141 and Long Island City High School. Peralta (Democratic) -From Jackson Heights, NY -Current New York State Senator -Bio: Senator Jose Peralta has lived in Queens for more than 30 years.
