MONDAY, NOV. 4 The Queens Botanical Garden is organizing a “wormshop” to teach kids about biology, recycling and sustainability. SUNDAY, NOV. 10 MoMA P.S. 1 presents “Something New: Innovation in Contemporary Comedy.” This event is organized and hosted by curator and writer Miriam Katz. Cocoon Central, Joe Pera and Rory Scovel perform. The innovative performances involve dance, music, play on form and character personalities. Through NOV. 10 Film series on Howard Hawks (1896– 1977), the fl awless Hollywood director whose distinct personal style can be seen in classics such as “Scarface,” “To Have and Have Not,” “His Girl Friday,” “Twentieth Century” and “Rio Bravo.” The fi lm series presents a 39-fi lm retrospective of the great American director who made fi lms in almost every conceivable genre, while maintaining a style that was direct, energetic, and lucid. SATIRICAL PLAY From FRIDAY, NOV. 1 until SAT, NOV. 30, The Eclipses Group Theater, in collaboration with The Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater NY, presents “Raus! Get Outta Here!” a play by M. Reppas and T. Papathanasiou. The play satirizes the current social milieu and financial problems currently affecting Greece. Six different characters from all walks of contemporary Greek society all conspire in getting a grant from the European Union by establishing a fake cultural organization. Trouble and some big laughs ensue when a German commissioner suddenly shows up to check on their organization’s legitimacy. The play is directed by Ioanna Katsarou, the director of last year’s sold-out success “The In-Laws for Tirana.” Performances are at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 3 p.m. on Sundays.
