The occasion honors prominent Latin New Yorkers and it will be held at Terrace on the Park in Flushing Meadows Corona Parks. The event will also feature the musical group Voz a Voz, a Latin Billboard and Latin Grammy nominee group. They began as a group in the Dominican Republic in 2005. They released their fi rst album “En Presencia del Futuro” under the record label UBO and later moved to New York City. The Latin Stars event will begin at 6 p.m. with a business expo with networking opportunities. It will be followed by dinner and an awards ceremony. The event will conclude with a charity raffl e benefi ting the nonprofi t organization Hispanics Across America. Among those expected to attend the event are Ruben Diaz Jr., the Bronx borough president; City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito; Geraldo Rivera, a prominent author, attorney and TV anchor; Ms. Republica Dominicana U.S. 2013 Thatiana H H H H H H The Premiere LATINO STARS H H H H AN AWARDS & NETWORKING EVENT H H H H H H Honoring influential Latino men and women whose major achievements and participation in the community have made a difference in New York Diaz; and Ines Rosales, FOX 5’s traffi c reporter. Lifetime Achievement Awards will be given to Fernando Mateo, founder of the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers, and Stella Mateo, founder of SheRides, a car service app. STAYING CLEAN AND HEALTHY BY ISABELLATAXILAGA Now that it’s getting colder outside it’s important to stay healthy. Staying healthy means taking care of your body so you don’t get sick (or share your germs with other people). All of us might have some bad habits that keep us from staying healthy, but you can fi x that. You might put your fi ngers in your mouth or touch the bottom of your shoes (like my little brother) or maybe touch your nose. We want you to stop that by thinking of some rules. Remember I want nothing bad for you, just to stay clean and healthy. 1. Never touch your nose, always grab a tissue (and blow!!). 2. Don’t touch the bottoms of your shoes or any dirty surfaces.
