KNIGHTS The Bayside High School Commodores improved to 4-0, beating the Frank K. Lane Educational Campus Knights by a score of 46-14. The Commodores had a total of 410 offensive yards, while only allowing the Knights to amass 309. Senior Charles Flug led the Commodores with 227 yards, completing 11 of 15 passes. In addition, Flug had an impressive six touchdowns. On the ground, senior Tyrell Plaza had a touchdown to go along with 84 yards on eight carries. For the Knights, senior Jasier Cepeda Anderson completed five of 15 passes, which was good for 140 yards and two touchdowns. Next up, the Commodores will go against the Franklin D. Roosevelt Cougars on Sept. 27. RED DEVILS VS. GOVERNORS The Flushing High School Red Devils lost an away game to the DeWitt Clinton Governors from the Bronx on Sept. 20. After falling behind 12-0 in the first quarter, the Red Devils were never able to recover, losing to the Governors 28-13. The Governors had a total of 255 offensive yards. Junior Brandon Harris was the offensive star of the Governors, completing four out of nine passes for 92 yards, one touchdown and an interception. On the ground, Harris rushed for 86 yards on 13 attempts and two touchdowns. The Red Devils will attempt to get back in the win column when they take on the Beach Channel High School Dolphins on Sept. 27. BULL DOGS VS. ORANGE WAVE The Campus Magnet High School Bull Dogs lost to the Thomas Jefferson High School Orange Wave by a score of 23-18. The Orange Wave amassed 228 offensive yards. Sophomore Olatundo Bruin completed five out of nine passes, throwing for 144 yards and a touchdown. Bruin also added a touchdown on the ground. Senior Jahnathan Troche had 70 yards on the ground and ran for a touchdown. Next up for the Bull Dogs, they will compete on Sept. 27 against the South Shore High School Vikings.
